MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Album: Partie Traumatic
Track: I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance

This post got erased yesterday due to the MOG glitch, but I wanted repost so it could be in the MOG archive.

The video is from current hype band and Columbia Records signee The Black Kids. Hailing from that not-so-hip Jacksonville, Florida scene, the first single off the group's full-length debut Partie Traumatic, is "I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance."

My post yesterday was me saying how these guys' upbeat ditties and chants reminded me of the Go! Team, and being signed to Columbia records penned them automatically with MGMT, who are also inked with the major label. Many responded by saying they thought the frontman, Reggie Youngblood (sweet name) made the whole outfit sound like early Cure. May the discussions begin again!!!

Ahem, once again... Enough Of This Band Already!!!

I hope they become the next Beatles but I'm getting the feeling that they're going to be just another One Hit Wonder. This song has been on heavy rotation for 8 months now and I just think it's time we hear some new material. Looking forward to their forthcoming full length.

I'm not hatin' mollie. You don't exactly hear about Jacksonville, Florida in the news everyday. And certainly not as many bands come out of there. The people there are hip, but the place isn't exactly where I'd want to live.

i see. i was just wondering. thought you had a story or reasons that i hadn't considered. i haven't spent much time there, but i LOVED the people i met in Jacksonville. it seems that loads of punk bands come from J-ville but that's definitely not the kind of music making headlines these days.
