MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Album:
Track:

Troubadour Leslie Feist, better known as just Feist may have lost the Grammy for Best New Artist to Amy Winehouse earlier this year, but you ain't gonna be seeing Amy Winehouse on Sesame Street any time soon.

On the other hand Feist will reportedly be appearing on the long-running children's program singing her The Reminder hit "1234" and a duet with Elmo she especially wrote for the fuzzy and ticklish little red dude. No air date has been announced.

This isn't the first time musicians have lent their chops and musical skills towards the stimulation of young children's minds.

R.E.M. did it back in the 90's with their track "Shiny Happy People" changing the lyrics to "Furry Happy Monsters."

Anyone remember other musicians' performances with the Sesame Street muppets?

Not sure if this one counts, seeing as Stevie didn't actually "sing" with any of the Sesame Street characters, but Mr. Wonder did perform "Superstition" on the show. I imagine, if Elmo were around at the time, he'd be shaking his little red ass to this.

I just can get into Feist. Her voice just annoys the hell out of me. Maybe I need to listen to more songs, but I doubt it.

I hope she fixes "1,2,3,4,5,6,9 and 10", or there are going to be a bunch of kids needing to be reprogrammed. ;)

Shud - I don't remember the Cab Calloway spot, but it's too damn cool.

One of my favorites of all time is Ray Charles doing "It's Not Easy Being Green," he sang it alone, though surrounded by puppets. A timeless song sung by a legend - what could be better?

This one with Bocelli doing a duet with Elmo is cute, but not so easy on the ears. Another great song, but this version is obviously not something I'd want to listen to in the car:

Not only did Sesame Street have amazing musicians, they had amazing guests in general. I had so much fun.

Johnny Cash:

also, answers.com has a list of all of them! http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-celebrity-guest-stars-on-sesame-street?cat=entertainment

GR - you mean this?

Never seen that one...

You know, I wonder why They Might Be Giants never made it to Seasame Street. Seems completely natural, almost like they should be the house band.

This MOG got me thinking about the SS ending credit theme that I've had stuck in my head for most of my life. Crazy.
