Weezer has been pulling everyone’s leg with this new album, the band's sixth, they’ve got coming out. First there was the Sixth Album Web site, which started a media frenzy, suggesting the new album would be called everything from Tout Ensemble to the Web site's uncreative namesake. It was all B.S.

Now sources are confirming that Weezer have decided to go with yet another pretty boring name for their follow-up to 2005's Make Believe. The album will be called none other than Weezer and is out on June 17th.
The album will reportedly be red too, in the same vein as their debut and first self-titled release Weezer, now recognized by fans as the Blue Album, and their 2001 third release Weezer, known to fans as the green album.
Weezer might be the first to release three self-titled albums, but aren’t the first band to release a self-titled album in the middle of their career. know any others?
Off the top of my head I can think of Broken Social Scene's 2005 album Broken Social Scene also known as Windsurfing Nation.

good question CR. here's what i could come up with: Clutch's second major label full-length was self titled... also, does Metallica's Black album count? it seems like there are others that don't come to mind right now too...

this is exciting! but my iTunes hates Weezer for their self-titled shenanigans...
i can't think of anyone else who has done this...but i bet ABBA probably did.

I figure every time Rivers thinks he messed up with the previous album, they pull out the self-titled card. The new single didn't disappoint though.
