MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

For anyone obsessed with Linkin Park, don't get too close. Today a report that a a New Mexico woman who stalked and harassed lead singer Chester Beddington and his wife, Talinda, was sentenced to two years in prison yesterday. The woman, Devon Townshend, worked at a national security library and used her work computer at to track and harass the singer and his family.

Townshend had pleaded guilty to stalking and other charges. She has 60 days to surrender to a minimum-security prison in Phoenix, where it is believed she will also be receiving mental care.

The psycho fan's stalking antics included monitoring Bennington's email, voicemail and PayPal accounts. She even traveled to Arizona to try and meet with Bennington after accessing his travel plans via computer. The woman obtained family photos, correspondence between Warner Bros. Records and Linkin Park's business attorney, and a copy of the band's recording contract.

Jesus. Makes you wonder who else is always listening on your phone conversations. Scary.

In other Linkin Park news, the band played an intimate midnight gig for contest winners and industry personnel last night at the NYC's SOHO Apple Store. Oh, the irony of playing at a computer store.
