Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers will release their eighth studio album, titled Brighter Than Creation's Dark, on January 22, 2008. The album is dedicated to legendary Muscle Shoals keyboardist Spooner Oldham, who also appears on the David Barbe-produced album.

In anticipation of the new album the Truckers will release a four-song Brighter Than Creation's Dark EP on December 18th via all internet retail outlets. The EP borrows the album's tracks "Two Daughters And A Beautiful Wife," "3 Dimes Down," "The Righteous Path," and "The Purgatory Line."

The band - primary songwriters and guitarist Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, bassist Shonna Tucker, pedal steel guitarist John Neff, and drummer Brad Morgan - will also be releasing their back catalog on vinyl for the first time on February 5th.

Ah, the first post-Isbell album. I take it Spooner and the Hood family go way back; Patterson's old man was the bass stud co-founder of Muscle Shoals. Weird thing is, I'd forgotten January's real soon. Just about a year since their last album. Time to get into DBT mode. Oh wait, I'm always in DBT mode.
