Anonymous performers The Residents, or the four interior decorators of the Apocalypse (as they call themselves on their MySpace page) will follow-up the digital release of their new album The Voice Of Midnight with the album's physical release on November 20th.
The visual performance group's latest is adapted from the short story, Der Sandmann, by Prussian writer E.T.A. Hoffman, first published 190 years ago. Historians laud the writing for addressing the conflict between the age of reason and the romantic era.
The Residents transformed Hoffman's piece into a mini-musical with each member of the band and some of their friends representing a character from Hoffman's short story.
Along with The Voice of Midnight, The Residents' classic albums Freak Show, The Commercial Album (25th anniversary special edition), Third Reich ‘N’ Roll, The Mole Trilogy, 2005’s Animal Lover and 2006’s Tweedles" are all available in deluxe limited edition hardback packages.
