Tweens Take Over the Top Ten Albums

This week Kelly Clarkson got beat out by Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Miley Cyrus, known to tween fans as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel sitcom of the same name, sold 326,000 copies of Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus to land at the top. Original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson sold 261,000 copies of her sophomore album My December to take the Number Two spot. Last weeks Number One and Two, Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway and The White Stripes’ Icky Thump bowed at Number Three and Four respectively this week. The Stripes only sold 88,000 copies this week, 60% less than last week. White Stripes, “Icky Thump”Country star Brad Paisley slides to Number Five this week, selling 81,000 copies of his fifth studio album, 5th Gear. Amy Winehouse, who canceled a show this week in the UK, is climbing steady in the USA. This week the bee-hived diva is Number Six on the chart after selling 63,000 copies of Back to Black.Ryan Adams’ new album East Tiger debuted at Number Seven on the charts this week, his highest debut ever. Adams’ 2005 album Cold Roses only peaked at Number 26. Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, “Two”Falling steady from the upper tiers of the Top Ten are Linkin Park Minutes to Midnight (Number Eight, 57,000 albums sold), Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full (Number Nine, 54,000 copies sold) and Maroon 5’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (Number Ten, 51,000 units sold).Maroon 5, “Makes Me Wonder”For the fifth week in a row, Rihanna still holds the top spot on the singles chart with "Umbrella," despiteGood Girl Gone Bad being Number Fourteen on the Billboard 200.
