The Verve: "Getting back together for the joy of the music."

This news is sweeter than bittersweet. After eight years of hiatus The Verve, led by the shamanic Richard Ashcroft, are getting back together for a winter tour. The original line-up of Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones and drummer Pete Sailsbury released a statement stating they were "getting back together for the joy of the music."It was Ashcroft's and McCabe's egos that finally broke up the band in 1999 after a decade of public feuding and drug use. "Bittersweet Symphony" NME expects that the band will head into the studio to begin work on a follow-up to 1997's Urban Hymns following some summer down time.
The reunion shows will take place in the UK only, with tickets going on sale July 6th. 11/2: Glasgow Academy11/3: Glasgow Academy11/5: Blackpool Empress Ballroom11/6: Blackpool Empress Ballroom11/8: London Roundhouse11/9: London RoundhouseSource: http://www.nme.com/news/the-verve/29261
