Ryan Adams New Album is Aptly-Titled "Easy Tiger"

Posted over 2 years ago
“I snorted heroin a lot — with coke. I did speedballs every day for years. And took pills. And then drank. And I don’t mean a little bit. I always outdid everybody.” Something from the likes of Scott Weiland? Keith Richards? No, actually Ryan Adams - the Grateful Dead loving singer-songwriter who releases his latest foray into neo folk-rock with the aptly-titled Easy Tiger a week from today (June 26th).

Easy Tiger, which will be sneaking up on you at Starbucks everywhere, featrues background vocals from Sheryl Crow on the single "Two," and a bio written by best-selling thriller author Stephen King, who calls Easy Tiger “maybe the best Ryan Adams CD ever.”

Although Adams is sober now, his self-destructive past might be an issue in his re-signing with his label Lost Highway, with which his recording contract is up soon.

“I was running the risk of becoming one of those people who talks to himself all the time," Adams told The New York Times about his drug use. "I was about to walk over this line that there was no coming back from, and I could feel it. I was seeing ghosts and hearing stuff. Having horrible nightmares."

Adams with help from his girlfriend and Valium kicked his nasty drug habits. He has been sober now for over a year.

Easy Tiger was recorded in NYC's Greenwich studio Electric Lady with producer Jamie Candiloro. The studio was originally built by Jimi Hendrix. Adams sporadic creativity and spontaneous songwriting came together here for the new album. Adams is currently on tour promoting his new album.
