WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Bad Week For Kelly Clarkson

Posted over 2 years ago
It's been a bad week for America's original American Idol Kelly Clarkson. First she fired her manager, The Firm's Jeff Kwatinetz, and then her tour was canceled due to weak ticket sales. This also follows rumors that her label J Records hates her new album, My December and label exec Clive Davis offered her $10 million to go back to the studio and re-record 5 of the album's songs. Clarkson, who has sold more than 15 million albums world-wide, has insisted on writing all the songs on her third album and reportedly refused the deal from Davis as it involved her collaborating with others. Thus, My December will still land in stores on June 26th.Clarkson recently spilled her guts about her resistance in the July issue of Elle:

"Because I'm 25 and a woman...My resistance upsets a lot of people, because we could make a lot of money. And I'm not hatin' on money... I'm just not comfortable doing things that don't feel like me. I am a good singer, so I can't possibly be a good writer. Women can't possibly be good at two things. I haven't lost my temper about it. It only drives me more. If your thing is to bring me down, cool. I'll just work harder."Yesterday Clarkson made up some BS excuse on her official Web site about canceling her tour, not even mentioning the low ticket sales:"I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to getting out there to perform for y'all. In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won't be coming out to tour this summer. The fact is that touring is just too much too soon.

But I promise you that we're going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better. Thanks for all of your love and continued support."-KellyRefunds for tickets are available at the point of purchase. Clarkson is also telling current ticketholders they will be invited via email, mail or phone notification, to purchase tickets through exclusive presales for future tour dates."Never Again," the first single off My December:Should Clarkson have accepted Clive Davis' $10 million offer to go back into the studio?

  1. dermahrk says Hey, I don't really know Kelly from a hole in the ground. I know who she is, of course but am almost totally unfamiliar with her music (not a radio listener). So, unbiased ears here and.. I like it. She's a good singer, of course, but I think it's a pretty strong song as well so, assuming she wrote it without help (which is what your post implies) then, yeah, no reason she shouldn't be doing all of her own material. What does Clive Davis know, anyway?.. oh, yeah....
