Fiery Furnaces Announce New Album Info, Tour

Posted over 2 years ago
Brother/sister duo The Fiery Furnaces will release their new album Widow City this October. The band will be releasing the follow-up to 2006's Bitter Tea on Chicago imprint Thrill Jockey, also home to Trans Am, Tortoise and David Byrne. This is the Furnaces first release on Thrill Jockey, the closest thing to a hometown label for Matt and Eleanor (the duo grew-up in the south side Chicago suburb of Oak Park.) No word on whether Grandma Olga Sarantos, who did back-up on the Furnaces' 2005 album Rehearsing My Choir makes Widow City's cut.The siblings take to the road this summer for their 4th of July tour. Ironically there is no show scheduled for the 4th of July. However Matt Friedberger has decided to dedicate the enitre summer run to long-time Chicago White Sox stadium organist Nancy Faust and the memory of those who at one time heard Nancy Faust. According to inside sources the summer tour will include medleys. The first 'medley' the band plays is based on the song "1917" accordingly. The second 'medley' revolves around "Nevers", a song about France from a similar tune of the "Star-Spangled Banner".
