Green Day Cover Simpson's Theme Song

Green Day have pretty much taken Bono’s role in world domination. Not only did they appear on the season finale of American Idol this past Wednesday, helping their single and John Lennon cover “Working Class Hero” jump eleven spots to Number Fourteen on the Modern Rock chart. But now, Green Day have recorded the theme song for the summer’s biggest flick and we’re not taking about Speilberg's Transformers either. Green Day have recorded a new version of the Simpsons theme song that will be released as part of the soundtrack to The Simpsons Movie. The band also appears in the film, which opens in theaters on July 27th.But if you want to play it over and over again you can buy the single on July 24th. A digital version of the film’s soundtrack will be available via Fox Music’s Web site also. And in the most creative venture for the music from the movie, Extreme Music will be releasing the movie’s score repackaged in 5,000 pink doughnut cases to such specialty retailers. Mmmmm.
