The Police To Release 1st-Ever Greatest Hits Double-Disc

Posted over 2 years ago
The Police will release their first-ever double-disc greatest hits compilation simply titled The Police on June 5th. The double-disc CD celebrates the reggae-rock bands 30th anniversary and comeback tour, kicking off May 28th in Vancouver, British Columbia. The “best of” collection is 28 songs pulled from the Police’s five studio albums, including their first single, “Fall Out,” which was released before their 1978 debut Outlandos d'Amour. Classics like the Police’s breakthrough single “Roxanne,” their first U.K. Number One single “Message In a Bottle,” and songs off the bands’ 3x platinum Ghost In The Machine and 8x platinum Synchronicity make the compilation. After breaking up in the mid-‘80s the Police singer-bassist Sting, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland, reunited at the 2003 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction. The trio would then reunite again onstage at this year’s Grammy’s announcing “We are The Police, and we are back!" An announcement of a full North American and European summer tour came next, with stops at major festivals like Bonnaroo outside Nashville, TN and Virgin Festival in Baltimore, MD. The Police will also headline the New Jersey Live Earth global concert event on July 7th. No official word on if the Police will release an album of new material in the future. Earlier this year guitarist Andy Summers hinted, “If we do well with these concerts we may well make a sixth album. I can’t see why not.” Looks good.Track listing for The Police:Disc One1. Fall Out2. 2. Charley Rogulewski says "Every Breath You Take: The Singles," 1992's "Greatest Hits by the Police" and 1997's "The Best of Sting and the Police" were all just single greatest hits compilations. This is a double-disc. More bang, more music in one package....and something new the band can sell at the merch counter when they go on tour. Its always about $$$$.
