Akon Gets Off Easy For Fan Toss

You got to love the US judiciary system. Akon was given a slap on the wrist after coping a plea bargain for the "June 2007 incident":http://mog.com/MrFrost/blog/127804 where he hurled a 15 year-old fan off a stage and into the audience during a concert outside Fishkill, New York.

At first, Akon pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He eventually agreed to a plea bargain, pleading guilty to second-degree harassment, which is only a violation.

Akon will pay a $250 fine, plus a New York State surcharge, $100, and must complete 65 hours of anti-gang and anti-violence community service by June 2009.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the chucked 15 year-old "was passing through a door to leave when he turned around, walked up to Akon, shook the singer's hand and said, 'Thanks a lot.'" Akon apologized several times, before the victims father interrupted and said, "You threw my son of the stage."

Akon smiling responded to the once-airborne fan, "We never had a chance to talk."
