MELT-PROOF AND SCRATCH-RESISTANT

Strokes Frontman, T-Pain, Norah Jones Branch Out Into Comedy

Posted 11 months ago

'08 saw the Strokes taking a break form being the Strokes and trying new outfits. Drummer Fabrizio Moretti headed west and found acclaim with his new side-project Little Joy. Bassist Nikolai Fraiture decided to front his own little band called Nickel Eye. But frontman Julian Casablancas has kept a rather low profile. Casablacas did, however, branch out in a completely different way.... into comedy.

Casablancas will appear on the The Lonely Island album Incredibad. Lonely Island are the Saturday Night Live team of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samburg, who is also a cast member. The trio have been keeping SNL alive with their clever, music-spoofing digital shorts. The most famous of the bunch being Samburg and former castmember Chris Parnell's "Lazy Sunday", the Justin Timberlake classic "Dick In a Box' and the club anthem "Jizz In My Pants."

Casablancas appears on the the track "Boombox." Other artists featured on Incredibad: Maroon 5's Adam Levine, T-Pain, E-40, Norah Jones. Levine appears on the track "Iran So Far," while Norah Jones is tagged on "Dream Girl.

Incredibad, a CD/DVD, appears February 10th via Unversal Republic. For more the entire interview with the Lonely Island guys head over to Pitchfork.
