Going once ...going twice...Sold...hopefully for $25,000-$35,000. That's what Jimi Hendrix's guitar strap from his 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Festival performance is being appraised at.
Hendrix' patterned guitar strap will be put up for sale on December 11, 2008 (1PM EST) by Profiles in History. In addition to maililng, phoning and faxing in bids, the goods will be available live on the internet via eBay Live Auctions or LiveAuctioneers.com. It comes framed with a reissued poster for the festival.
After said and done festivities the strap wound up in the hands of Graham Central Station lead guitarist David Vega. Vega was supposedly given the guitar strap by a sound technician who worked at Woodstock. There are many pictures of Hendrix wearing the guitar strap while performing. Hendrix also wore it during his closing set at Woodstock, which is now considered one of the greatest moments in rock n roll history.
Ever bid on rock memorabilia? What and how much?

I saw Jimi's burned guitar from the Monterey Festival go for over $150K on Ebay. I'd be very weary to bid on something like that for that much money - very crazy.
I did bid on a signed TOOL poster by Maynard from a show I saw in Oklahoma - pretty sweet since I was at the show. I think I only paid $30. I don't know if you'd call it memorabilia yet - but hopefully one day - haha
That's pretty cool...
If I had the spare cash, I would totally try for it. What music fan wouldn't want a piece of bonafide music history.
Personally, I've never bid on-line for any of my memorabilia, it's all been acquired first hand :)
