WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Can You Pick Out MMJ, Modest Mouse, R.E.M. & More From Their Protest Posters?

Posted about 1 year ago

A few days ago Mogger Anna posted a fun, little "poster game.":http://mog.com/Anna/blog/198989 Today comes another version of the game using protest posters.

Musicians ranging from Spoon's Britt Daniels to Public Enemy's Chuck D. created their own protest poster for the latest issue of Under The Radar magazine. In the issue each artist holds their politically-charged poster with a small interview on the topic next to it. Now, the black and white handmade protest posters will be auctioned during a 7-day eBay auction beginning September 30th with proceeds going toward War Child International.

Below are a total of 17 posters. The artist behind them include My Morning Jacket, R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, Spoon's Britt Daniels, Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock, Akron/Family, Billy Bragg, British Sea Power, Shout Out Louds, Michael Franti, Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne. Public Enemy's Chuck D, Talib Kweli, Death Cab For Cutie, Foals, Fleet Foxes, Les Savy Fav, The Decemberists' Colin Meloy, and Peter Moren of Peter, Bjorn and John.

Can you place each to its rightful aritst? For the answers and to view more protest posters head here.

NOPE. that one is one of my faves, though. it 's the other UK act Foals. Can you guess which one 16 is? if you think about it it becomes pretty obvious.

Arg, I knew it would be one of the two British acts!

you got 16, a knock at the PB& J classic  "Young Folks." 17 was close, but its another indie rock act that can sell out Radio City in NYC.  5. was tricky...its actually talib kweli.

NOOO, my second thought for 5 was Kweli!!! I need to think things twice....

Speaking of which, I have to go with my other thought on the indie rock matter, DCFC is 3 and Modest Mouse is 17......and I'm sure the Decemberists could be for 3 or 17, but god help me.

    Also, Public Enemy number 11.

decemberists is 14 solar power mania. 17 is MMJ and DCFC is the paper ballot one! nice try though. you are not doing so well. but no worries i'm sure you can get 12 and 6.

I love it, and am in the middle of writing about this for something else. As the issue of OTR is on the desk next to me, I'm going to bow out of taking a stab at it as a) I know half of them from reading the article(s) and b) the urge to cheat would be just too much.
