Noel Gallagher is still mending from being shoved into his monitor by a crazed 47-year old fan. (Do we still call him a fan?) His bruising to the rib and hip, and now what Gallagher is calling a tickle in his hands has postponed following gigs in London, Ontario and tonight's gig at New York's Terminal 5.
"Spent all day in bed suffering from my severe tickling at the hands of that drunken Canadian who, it transpires, is a grown man of 47 years!! (And I thought I was the oldest person at our gigs!)," Gallagher wrote on his blog. "In his defense though, he's probably having one of those mid-life crises things."
Gallagher who has been recuperating while watching Seinfeld and American football and downing painkillers did send his sincere apologies. "Have to get another check up tomorrow. I'm gonna ask for new bionic ribs. Apologies for blowing out the show in London (that's London in Canada). You can thank your comrade from Toronto for that. We will return though. Probably in December. Anyway, gotta go. These painkillers are kicking in again."
But Oasis is still moving along with their planned street busking project. Today (September 12th) the band will teach 30 New York City buskers, part of a Metropolitan Transit Authority program, four songs from their new album Dig Out Your Soul, namely "The Turning," "Bag it Up," "(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady" and "The Shock of the Lightning." The buskers, spanning talents in 'Shred Violin' to 'Double Bass Rock,' will then be unleashed onto the city, playing at various locales like Times Square and Grand Central Station. A pretty novel marketing gimmick.
