New Kings Of Leon Single "Crawl" Is Really Awesome, Watch Some Video Of Them Creating It

Posted about 1 year ago

I've noticed that the Kings of Leon don't get enough loving on MOG. Whenever I post a story about these guys I get zilch in response. And I wonder why…

You see, for me, these guys are really something. They basically got their start cause they had "the look" - vintage Southern rocker meets hipster chic. They're lookers too. I interviewed KOL long ago for a uber cool Chicago street zine called Chicago Innerview, and was surprised when they admitted that they didn't really know what the hell they were doing.

KOL are about to release their fourth album Only By The Night on September 23rd something already wrote about and got no love for doing so. Today KOL released a free single via their Web site from the new album titled "Crawl." (You need to head "here":http://www.kingsofleon.com/ to download.) And the reason I bring it to your attention is not only is it good, but these boys have done nothing except consistently gotten better with age…like a fine wine or whiskey in their case. "Crawl" is worth everybody's time.

And here is a little taste of the new album:

Taper Jean Girl was my introduction to these guys via friends.  I really liked it.  The same friends bought these gys a bunch of rounds after a show in AC a few years ago and they described them like you did.  Kickass musicians, but young and taking it all seat of pants rather then with a choregraphed marketing plan built by some self loving publicist.  In other words, they are real.  And so is the music.

I can't say enough about this band.  Every album trumps their previous.  Every year, their sound blossoms into some unexpected direction.  In many ways, I don't want my personal relationship with this band to be tarnished by bigger venues and huge hit singles, but I also have the deepest admiration for these kids and want the biggest and best for them.  Aha Shake Heartbreak was one of my fav's from 2005.  Because the Times was at the top of my list for best of 2007.  I'm crossing my fingers for 2008.
