Lions are known for their ferocious roar. So it only makes sense that Rage Against the Machine frontman Zach de la Rocha and former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore are calling their new band One Day As A Lion.
Really, the band name was inspired by a George Rodriguez shapshot taken back in 1970 of a tag on a white wall in the Los Angeles area of Boyle Heights that reads: 'It's better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.' "This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound," the duo says of their sound.
Between Theodore's hardcore drumming (please recall "Eriatarka") and De La Rocha's chops this band is sure to put the raw in rawkus, or as they themselves so eloquently put it, "It's a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask." Deep.
One Day As A Lion' eponymous debut EP recorded by at Ocean Way Recording by Robert Carranza (Ozomatli, The Mars volta) and mixed by Mario C (Beastie Boys, Super Furry Animals) at MCJ Studio lands everywhere on July 22nd thanks to ANTI- Records.

YES! finally this is going to surface!
a clip? something?
i know, right? i coudln;t find anything but will post as soon as i find something. but i have a feeling this will have a sexy Latin feel to it. Theodore's drumming can getting pretty fiesta-y. I do think it will still be hardore though.
i cant wait, this has the potential to be insane.
a clip would be soo good iv been looking for ages :(
Effing sweet!
