I always thought that Vampore Weekend were name checking the British counterpart to their ivy league alma mater with this tune. Then I thought...you know, they have some preppy style, so maybe this ditty is about their favorite type of lace-ups. But then when I hit the ol' Google function for the dictionary definition of "Oxford Comma" it all finally came to me full circle.
The 'Oxford comma' is an optional comma before the word 'and' at the end of a list:
"We sell books, videos, and magazines."
It is so called because it was traditionally used by printers, readers, and editors at Oxford University Press.
Pretty amazing the video was shot in one take, probably on one of those track cameras.

Very Wes Andersonish.
I was equally amazed when I saw this video for the first time
It is very cool, and it may be one shot, but we certainly don't know how many times they shot it (or rehearsed it). Definitely not an easy feat.
agreed. very wes-esk. love it.
Charley, I'm all the wiser. Was just wondering yesterday what was meant by Oxford comma. Woo, pleases my inner grammar geek.
Do I win a prize for already knowing what an Oxford Comma is?... despite what they say, reading the dictionary pays off...
you gotta love that song....
...now, is there anything called a "Darjeeling Comma"?
Great video - love the strut!
Jox, I never read the dictionary, although i was tempted to many times... maybe i should. its never too late.
agreed- amazing vid.
I liked Chapter 3 the best. :)
