With every passing week comes a new rumor that jam kings Phish are returning to stage. This August it will mark four years since the band's "final" blowout in Coventry, VT. in the last month I've come across stories about frontman Trey Anastasio working on new tunes with band lyricist Tom Marshall, and today Mogger Soncial wrote about the "whopper of a rumor,":http://mog.com/sonical/blog_post/169078?from=latest_news also picked up by Billboard, that Phish had tagged uber-producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Matthews band, Morrissey) for their next album. Billboar called up Lillywhite for confirmation and got a "no comment" answer, which prety much means it's probably goign to happen.
But, this is Phish, a band that loves to f#*k with its fans. Let's not forget those late night flatbed sets through the parking lot nor the time "Tom Hanks" ran out on stage.
One thing that is true for sure is that Anastasio graduated drug court school late last week. He even gave a mini-speech at commencement saying that on the night of his arrest for driving with and under the influence of a shitload of drugs he thought to himself "my life is finally being saved." Ahhhh...
With this all behind Anastasio..bring on the new Phish record.

OOOOO....I won't believe it till it happens, but ooooo I'm so excited by the prospect of it.
It would be odd though for them to record an album first and then go on tour. Being that they were always testing out material on the fans.
that's one of the better speeches I've seen him do in a while. He seems much more together than thd Charlie Rose show where he dropped the bomb.
Hopefully there's more to come from this guy.
Cool.
