Psyched: Going To MMJ At RCMH

Posted about 1 year ago

Duuuuude....I am sp psyched for tonight. It's the best start to a weekend! I've got fourteenth row to see My Morning Jacket at Radio City Music Hall. At first I didn't think it was a big deal. I've been following these guys since they played the dinky stage at Austin Music Festival in 2003. Then the show, announced months ago, sold out. Seeing MMJ at the monolith Radio City Music Hall is going to be off the hizoook! It's almost a right of passage.

Last time I went to a show at Radio City, which seats 6000, was for Ben Harper (of course I wrote about it!). I was pretty much dragged to that by my roommate, Allison, who thinks Ben is a babe. During the show, and what I hope MMJ's Jim James does tonight, Harper went to the edge of the stage and sang out to the audience, letting the acoustics of Radio City carry his voice. No amps, no mic...nothing. And you could here everything Harper sang. It was amazing! I hope MMJ try something like that. I also hope they cover Radiohead's reverb-y "House of Cards." I bet they'd kill it.

And in case you missed them on Conan last night:
