Girl Talk Uses Radiohead's "In Rainbows" Prototype For New Album Release

If you head over to Girl Talk's label Illegal Art's Web site a world a magic and wonderment awaits. Not really, but you do have the option of downloading Girl Talk's new album Feed The Animals for (que the magic word) FREE. There is a catch.
You see, Girl Talk aka former biochemical engineer Gregg Gillis seemed to have liked all the attention Radiohead got for In Rainbows' "pay-what-you-like" phenomenom ...so much that Gilis is doing the same with "Feed the Animals.
Any price grants the download of the entire album as high-quality 320kbps mp3s, $5+ lets you get FLAC files, plus a one-file seamless mix of the album, while for a dirty Hamilton ($10+) you get all of the above and a packaged CD once available.
Now for the catch...let's say you enter $0.00 like some douchebags out there (ok, fine, I'm a doucebag), Gillis basically makes you look him in the virtual eye. A screen pops up asking "I have opted to pay $0.00 because..." and the list below ensues:
I may donate later
I can't afford to pay
I don't really like Girl Talk
I don't believe in paying for music
I have already purchased this album
I don't value music made from sampling
I am part of the press, radio, or music industry
Other reasons
I'm not going to tell you which one I "opted" for. I just hope Gillis doesn't release this alist of all the doucebags that paid zilch.

That's an interesting approach. I can't say I've heard Girl Talk before, so I'll probably be opting out of paying first go around, then I'll go for the $5+ option if I find I like enough tracks from it.
Thanks for the heads up!
awesome!!!!
ouch. right in the feelings.
Now that's a cool approach.
And for lazy douchebags, you could have put a link in, Charley. :P

Thanks for the info. At this price, free, I'll give it a listen and see what I think and if I like $10 for a disc ain't a bad price either.
Now that Radiohead confirmed that they won't use this "pay-what-you-like" model anymore I wonder how many more artists will try this.
I wonder what would happen if Girltalk had set his minimum at $2: i have a feeling that if people were required to enter credit card information they might donate a few additional dollars to equal a fair price.
