Rainboots ....check. MapQuest directions from Nashville Airport to Manchester butt-f#ck middle-of-nowhere, TN....check. Shades...sunscreen... all check. If you haven't guessed it already I'm off to Bonnaroo 2008
I wish I could say that what I'm most excited for at this year's Bonnaroo - the seventh since its 2002 inception, and my third time out - are the free, ice-cold, backstage Vitamin Water and vodka drinks, but they're not. Through the years I've seen Beck, Radiohead, Elvis Costello, Mars Volta, Dr. John, Kings of Leon, Widespread Panic, De La Soul, Sonic Youth, Tom Petty, Secret Machines, Matisyahu, Son Volt, Herbie Hancock, Brazilian Girls (the list goes on and on) and more perform on its stages. But this year...2008...the act I am most looking forward to is Iceland's Sigur Ros. And then there's Metallica, who will most likely preview some new material. Bonnaroo 2008 is going to pop my Metallica cherry. Kanye West will no doubt be making me pump my fist in the air (as he always does). And Mike McCready better play the guitar behind his head, like he did at Lollapalooza last year, during Pearl Jam's Bonnaroo set...maybe even throw in some cartwheels between some riffs. Please?
It will rain, most likely pour, as it does every year, but it won't stop me from coming back (It never has.) I will most likely sweat in Sunday's sweltering sun, the kind of sweat that starts to seep through my cute festival outfit and make me look like THAT person who is sweating more than anyone else through their clothes. But, nope, I won't be embarrssed one bit. I'm actually quite looking forward to. That dirty festival feeling. Three days.. nothing but me, 5+stages of music and a comedy tent. And the late night Silent Disco...DON"T EVEN GET ME STARTED. If any MOGgers will be out there, that's where you'll be able to find me... dancing with a nice ice-cold beverage in my hand.

have fun! so cool you'll be seeing Sigur Ros and Kanye in the same weekend. and the disco sounds rad too. i'm looking forward to living vicariously through your posts about it!
Well, if you can find the booth where they are demoing "Guitar Hero" My little bro will be there (he's doing the demo with his girlfriend). Talk about a summer job! I hope Manchester isn't like Gatlinburg - which I liken to Atlantic City if the Disney Hillbilly Bears got a hold of it! Enjoy all the fried food and babies in bars with chain smokers you can handle!
I wouldn't miss Gogol Bordello & Ladytron for the world.

Very much looking forword to you words/pics! The list looks good, but aucatlly I'm interesting to see what Brazilian Girls have been up to. They sort of fell of the map, at least in my world.
