Police's Last Show Set For Madison Square Garden

Posted about 1 year ago
I don't know how much I believe in the whole "last show ever" concept. Anyone who is anyone seems to reunite, even the Police. But alas ... the Police will play their last concert EVER (again) at Madison Square Garden on August 7th, with openers the B-52s.The trio will go out with a charitable bang, with tickets for their final bow only available thru donations to New York public television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21. Starting June 14th tickets will be sold in pairs at $150, $350, $500 and $750 donations. A $5000 package/donation allows access to soundcheck, and a $2000 package/donation includes prime seats and a private pre-show party will also member will be allowed to purchase the packages beginning June 9th.In addition to all proceeds going towards New York public broadcasting stations, who will air Police retrospective footage including vintage concert clips the day of the final show, the band will donate one $1 million to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's MillionTreesNYC. The program has plans to to plant trees all over New York City. The Police's generosity might have something to do with the success of their reunion tour, which grossed more than $212 million since My 2007. (Dayum!)

  2. PopeyePete says Good point garage. I wasnt really thinking about the $$ aspect. Just the music itself. Id never pay that much to see a concert.

  3. GarageRock says The fact that they charged so much for their reunion tour totally turned me against them. Now the cheapest seat for this show is $150?! Give me a break. I saw Sting solo and it was about as exciting as a Peter Paul and Mary show. I'd much rather pay $15 and see The Raveonettes up close at Maxwells than to give all of these tired old rockers one last enormous payday. As N.W.A. once said, Fuck the Police...
