Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Enters Rehab After 20 Years Of Sobriety

Posted about 1 year ago
Those 60th birthday bashes can be rough. It seems turning 60 has been especially rough for Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who has re-entered rehab after 20 years of supposed sobriety.Tyler, who overcame heroin addiction in the eighties, has checked into Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena to undergo treatment for an unspecified substance abuse problem. (On a side note the clinic is used for Dr. Drew's reality TV show Celebrity Rehab. No word on weather Tyler will partake in the show.)In the 70s and early 80s Tyler and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry were coined the "Toxic Twins," for their legendary escapades with stimulants and heroin.Back in 2003 Tyler battled Hepatitis C, which was believed to be contracted from drug paraphernalia, but was rid of the disease after some intense chemo. In 2006 Tyler underwent successful throat surgery and completed a world tour with Aerosmith in 2007.Get better Steven Tyler!

  2. funoka says At least he knows when he's off the wagon. I like him . . . but have often wondered about him and another famous self-professed teetotaler -- John Mellencamp. Both these guys are so intense I've often wondered if they don't partake from time to time.

  4. GarageRock says Hey, it's a tough mental merry-go-round to get off of...hopefully he'll figure it out. Damn...first it was Van Halen this year, now Tyler. Hopefully Dion and Iggy don't follow suit.

  6. dachmo says When I was younger I was addicted to riding my skateboard, I rode it everyday. As I got older I stopped, but every once in a while I take it out for a quick run. That's probably what happened here.

  7. GarageRock says Yeah, but those quick runs lead to looooong downhills sometimes...but, Hey! Look at Keith! Takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

  10. fairportfan says Warren Zevon, another one famous for his excesses, got clean and sober... And found out, some years later, that he had lung cancer. He and hos biddy Hunter S. Thompson, joked that, since he only had six months to live anyway, maybe he ought to start partying again to sort of ease his way out. But Thompson said "Nah - if you do, it'll turn out the bastards are wrong again and you'll just have to get clean again..." Unfortunately, thjis time the bastards were right - though Zevon fooled 'em at least a little; they gave him six months and he made a year. "My Ride's Here", forsooth.
