Got a letter to send to grandma? Stamp is with an American Idol season four winner Carrie Underwood stamp. That’s right, competing with the Liberty Bell and American Flag for that $0.41 ($0.42 as of May 12th) corner space is a new set of American Idol stamps. The nostalgia of those iconic dead actors and Elvis has apparently worn of. Now, the six Idols – Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks and Jordin Sparks -- along with this year's winner, will be each honored with 100,000 20-stamp sheets with all proceeds going to the “Idol Gives Back” charity.
But you won’t find these whippersnappers at the post office. The charity U.S. postage stamps featuring the show's winners will only be available at PhotoStamps (photo.stamps.com), a product of Stamps.com, which offers USPS-approved, Internet-based postage services. While a regular sheet of stamps costs $7 ($8.40 as of May 12th), the Idol stamp sheets will cost $19.99. If these stamps sell out, the charity would make $7 million, the show’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe claims.Adds Lythgoe, the stamps are "a great idea, especially for philatelists. I think it's a little bit iconic, too. It's great for Idol."What’s next a day off for National American Idol day?
