Stone Temple Pilots Reunite At Houdini's Mansion

Posted about 1 year ago
The reunited original members of Stone Temple Pilots -- frontman Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz -- played a 30-minute set yesterday, certifying their reunion and upcoming tour, at the former Los Angeles "mansion of legendary magician Harry Houdini.":http://www.prairieghosts.com/hollywood6.htmlWeiland, who last week pulled a Houdini act disappearing from the ranks of Velvet Revolver, announced to the crowd that the Stone Temple Pilots were back and "going on tour this summer.""None of us will wax poetically," he continued, "we'll just bash each other with guitars and mic stands."And who will be backing up this reunion tour? None other than Live Nation. According to Billboard.com, the coming-of-age music empire will produce a huge chunk of the 65-date STP summer trek, the band's first since disbanding in 2002.This summer fans should expect to hear STP play staples "Big Empty,":http://youtube.com/watch?v=3_1SYJuSZKs "Plush," "Interstate Love Song," "Vaseline," "Lady Picture Show," "Big Bang Baby," and "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart" -- all which were rocked to at yesterday's Houdini hoedown."We shot our video for 'Creep' here in the early '90s," Weiland said of the place, swarming with music industry folk and contortionists last night. "Yeah, we're old." "It looked like an Obsession commercial, which is cool, but it wasn't what we wanted to portray."Let's take a poll. Will this tour rock or is it a recipe for Weiland disaster?
