Scott Weiland Snubs Velvet Revovler Pink Slip, Calls It An "Excuse To Cover Up The Truth"

Posted about 1 year ago
Yesterday Velvet Revolver released a statement announcing that frontman Scott Weiland had been fired from the band. The band blamed his "lack of commitment to fans and music":http://mog.com/mollifire/blog_post/153746?from=latest_news for bringing on the pink slip.Today Weiland, who will go back to his roots and reform Stone Temple Pilots for a rumored summer tour, shot back with the following comments:"After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious 'GUITAR HERO' Saul Hudson, a.k.a Slash, I find it humorous that the so called four 'founding members' of Velvet Revolver, better known to themselves as 'The Project' before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow."In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment, I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth. The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun...at times, but let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member, no need to mention his name)."Weiland then spoke about his forthcoming reunion tour with Stone Temple Pilots:"Personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back. This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow band mates in STP and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang.P.S. Don't be fooled by veiled trickery."P.P.S. Good hunting lads, I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."The last Velvet Revolver concert with Weiland on the mike was last night's gig in Amsterdam.Who sounds like the bigger jackass here? Slash and Co. or Weiland?

  2. cpeterc says Looks like the rumored summer tour is true. STP was announced as one of the headliners for the Virgin Mobile Festival at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore August 9-10. http://www.virginmobilefestival.com has additional info.

  3. GrittyMcScruff says Well they are all jackasses but great performers and musicians. Their peak though was in their previous bands, so bring on an STP reunion. I'll definately check them live, not sure I care to hear any new material though. Weiland hit the wall creatively 12 years ago as far as I'm concerned, but still puts on a show live. I would consider murder to see the original GNR reform.
