They love their Foo Fighters out in Oceania. Yesterday Foos fans began booking flights, calling in sick from work "after a New Zealand radio station":http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/4459713a4500.html announced that the band would be performing a secret show at the Auckland's Powerstation venue.
Turns out it was just the radio station, "Rock FM," playing a mean April Fool's trick on fans. The station thought that only "around 50 people" would fall for the prank, after which they only would be entertained by a Foos album playing over the loudspeaker at the club.Programme director Brad King said that by the early evening the station had been flooded with phone calls from fans, record labels and promoters. According to King the stunt caused "absolute carnage." The mere fifty the station expected to fool turned to 2000. "This is what happens when fools plan April Fool's jokes. Word spread beyond far and wide." As for the proprietors of the joke, King assured that there "have certainly been some consequences."What should the radio station do to make up for the prank? Is this funny or mean?
