Outkast's Andre 3000 Debuts Clothing Line

One half of Outkast, Andre 3000 previewed his years-in-the-making clothing line during New York's fashion week. The debuting line, called Benjamin Bixby (taken from his full name Andre Benjamin), contains some 70 pieces, which the Atlanta MC plans on selling at Barneys New York and other high-end stores. Benjamin Bixby has a collegiate and athletic theme and was inspired by football players from back in the thirties. Speaking with New York Magazine, Andre Benjamin described the line also as "kind of like your uncle, or your granddad, and he has a closet full of experiences and clothes, and he's been around the world." The line definitely sticks to Andre's preppy style. Back in Atlanta Andre was part of the “prep crew.” “It was all about being a prep," he said. "It was about ties and saddle shoes and Guess overalls and stuff like that.” This style has led to Banjamin Bixby's "rebel gentleman” look. The look seems to be winning some critical acclaim, with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour having some words for Andre Benjamin. "She liked it," he told NY Magazine. "She was saying she hopes I get the right investors that believe in what I'm doing." While the line debuts in stores this fall, Andre Benjamin will next be seen in the Will Ferrell comedy Semi-Pro.Andre Benjamin is not the only rapper stepping it up in the fashion world. recently Lupe Fiasco stepped it up in the fashion world designing some jackets.
