Blind Melon Get Resurrected On "For My Friends"

Posted about 1 year ago
No, Blind Melon's original frontman Shannon Hoon, who died in 1995 from a drug overdose, has not risen from the dead to reunite his band. While Blind Melon are reuniting, Hoon will have to be there in spirit, as new replacement singer Travis Warren will take his place.Blind Melon, with Warren the former frontman for Rain Fur Rent, have already completed work on new album, the band's first in thirteen years. For My Friends is due April 22nd and according to the new singer is "a great rock'n'roll record." In an interview with Billboard.com, Warren compared For My Friends to Blind Melon's 1995 release Soup saying, "the more you listen to it, the more it grows on you.""We definitely want to experiment and do different things with music," Warren says about the new Blind Melon arrangement which includes original members Glen Graham on drums, Rogers Stevens on guitar, Christopher Thorn on guitar, and Brad Smith on the bass. "Hopefully with the [next] record, it'll go completely left field from where this record took off." Six new tracks off For My Friends can be heard at the band's "MySpace page":http://www.myspace.com/blindmelon - "Wishing Well," "Sometimes," "Tumblin' Down," "Last Laugh" "Harmful Belly" and "Make A Difference." 2. mister gary at work again says Meh. I still like listening to the old stuff every now and then (Soup really has held up remarkably well over the years), but much like the Alice in Chains 'reunion', I just don't think I can get into this.

  3. Lizziegreeneyes says Soup is a genius album start to finish - totally holds up... but I hear you Gary... Just as there really is only one Layne... there's only one Shannon... I'll remain as open to it as I can... still, I like knowing about it... I had no idea they were thinking bout getting it back up & running !!!
