Shins' Marty Crandall Arrested In Sacramento

There's trouble in indie la-la-land. The Shins multi-instrumentalist Marty Crandall was arrested in Sacramento along with his girlfriend, former America's Next Top Model finalist Elyse Sewell, this past Friday (January 4th).The pair got into a heated scuffle, where Crandall allegedly assaulted Sewell. Hotel personnel called in the authorities. Crandall was charged with felony domestic assault and held on $25,000 U.S. bail until Sunday, while Sewell was also held until Saturday, reportedly due to Crandall having a bite mark on him that Sewell says she inflicted in self-defense. Her arm was reportedly bruised.The Shins' label Sub Pop released this statement: "Marty Crandall and his ex-girlfriend Elyse Sewell were both arrested over the weekend following an argument at a Sacramento hotel which resulted in hotel staff calling the police."They were both taken into police custody and released over the weekend. There will be no further comment at this time and we would appreciate their privacy being respected."Sewell also retorted with a recount of the incident on "her blog":http://elysesewell.livejournal.com/, but the entry was later taken down.She did however confirm that the scuffle left Crandall with the title of "ex-boyfriend." Whether they can stand each other or not, the pair is due back in court today (Tuesday) for the incident.
