Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy responded yesterday to the lawsuit filed against him by former Wilco member Jay Bennett. Bennett is suing Wilco for royalties he says he never received for participating on epic Wilco albums "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" and "Being There." The damages are specified in the lawsuit as "at least $50,000." Bennett also wants the dough for having his face splashed all over the behind-the-muisc-esque Wilco documentary "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," that left him looking like a real pain in the ass. Bennett, who hasn't played with Wilco since 2001, claims he never signed a proper release for the film nor was compensated for it.
Wilco's publicist sent Paste magazine this statement from Tweedy on the topic:
"I know exactly as much as everyone else does. I've read the news and I honestly have no idea what these claims are based on. It was such a long time ago. Aside from everything else, I'm being sued for not paying someone for appearing in a movie I didn't produce. Go figure. I am truly sad it has come to this. I am equally convinced, however, that I have done nothing wrong and that this will be handled fairly and swiftly."

Tweedy's lucky he knows the people suing him. This Robert, has seen a lot of suits about him from people he doesn't even know.
I am just guessing, but I think Jay is a tad bit bitter.
you think? ;)
Sad how once great fiends can become bitter enemys, especially in bands.
agreed.
If he didn't get paid money is is owed, that's fair but not sure Tweedy is the guy to approach. Should he approach the label?
But suing for a vague number based on what you think someone probably owes you, isn't going to stand up.
This makes that documentary look even more accurate.
