Best 3 Videos Of 2009 ... So Far

For '09 nothing is going to beat the video of the Berlin woman being mauled by a polar bear. Nothing.
But when it comes to music videos there's some debating. Only four months into "the year of the ox" and already we see Super 8 being used to its finest, no end to dolly track one could use, and some crazy lighting special effects taking certain music videos to the top.
Rounding out the list at Number Three is the Black Lips' "I'll be With You." Nothing equals a great party like spinning LPs, cake, balloons and a dead clown at the end of it all. Vice Records darlings the Black Lips took to their grandparent's Super8 and recorded a Christmas meets birthday bash that leaves you wishing you were part of the festivities.

Karen O channels Michael Jackson's Black & White video dancing a top a car in this motion action video for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Zero." 'Zero's sentiment is to revel in being you." O told Spinner.com . "You're a zero so screw it! It's the underdogs, the rebels, the outsiders that have always captivated me growing up so I decided why not flaunt that side of myself in the video." Shake what your mama gave you.

There is so much love on the road with the Flaming Lips that the band's road crew decided to form a little band called Stardeath and White Dwarfs. There's so much love there that not only did the Lips offer them an opening spot on tour, hook 'em up with Warner Brothers deal, but they also got S&WD to participate on their cover of Madonna's "Borderline." Not only does the gang add a phenomenal original spin on the Madge classic, but also the video does some pretty, cool, trippy stuff with the lighting. Simple, yet big, the video gets the Number One spot for 2009 ...so far. Wait for minute 4:09 -- that's when it becomes a headbanger.

Honorable Mention:
If the Revolver-era Beatles were to pass the peace pipe and jam under the stars with "French Band" Air they'd probably born the Frequency's "Sanity Overture." Add Coors Light, some Jameson to the mix and well, just check out the Los Feliz twosome's DIY video for the track. Yeah, you've probably never heard of these guys, but expect the "Morning To 3 A.M" EP out later this Spring …keeping the outlook for the rest of '09 quite bright and sunny.
