“Walking That Line For You, G”: Snoop Dogg Is A Johnny Cash Fanatic

Posted 8 months ago

I just came across this and it opened up a whole can of worms.

Out in the U.S. since the end of January, with a UK release looming June 15th Snoop Dogg's remix of Cash's "Walk The Line" is one of 18 cuts on Johnny Cash Remixed, a controversial album panned by most. Produced by Cash's son John Carter Cash and Jay-Z's father-in-law Mathew Knowles the album was licensed by Cash's first label Sun Records and also includes remixes by the Alabama 3, Pete Rock, The Heavy and Oz's Midnight Juggernauts. For a tracklist head here.

If Johnny Cash covered Nine Inch Nails, then Snoop Dogg can attempt Johnny Cash, right?

This is not the first time Snoop has showed his love for Cash, whom he refers to as the "real American gangsta." In 2008 Snoop dedicated the track "My Medicine," a country twang nod to ganga, to Cash. Had no idea Snoop was such a Cash fanatic.

This makes me want to do something folksy country now.  Funny how all of the sudden Hick-Kitch is totally sheek.

Nice try Snoop.  It's not working for me, but I'm sure it'll make you millions.
