Jane's Addiction Blow Up SXSW

The Playboy/ C3 party is one of the best late night SXSW ragers consistently every year. So how do you celebrate year 10? With Jane's Addiction as the headliner. Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, a kilt-wearing Stephen Perkins and returning bassist Eric Avery sampled from their back catalog, opening with the spacey "Three Days." All but four songs were off the LA band's 1988 breakthrough Nothing Shocking.
Avery jumped around and played from atop moniters and speakers, while Farrell girated like Mick Jagger on a bunch of ecstasy. Navarro showed up shirtless, but most notable was Perkins' drumming. Loud, with two bass drums, Perkins glimmered behind his wall of cymbals. Each one of the band members stole the show, yet didn't upstage one another. It was perfect.
It was a true return to old school Jane's Addiction form.
Set list:
"Three Days"
"Ain't No Right"
"Whores"
"Standing in the Shower Thinking"
"Ted, Just Admit It…"
"Been Caught Stealing"
"Had a Dad"
"Mountain Song"
"Ocean Size"
"Stop"

okay I'm fucking jealous. I went to work today. This is much better.
what an awesome set!!
Let's hope they don't revisit those later (non) Janes Addiction Albums that didn't have Eric Avery on them.
Gee....ummmm....what's coming up in the next post?! A Pink Floyd reunion at some tiny club? U2 played the bar at your hotel? Geez...are you having one hell of a time or what?!! Are you gonna catch any of Little Steven's Underground Garage Party at Antone's today by any chance? Damn I'm jealous...
