Twitter Beef: It's What's For Laughs; Round 2 For NIN vs. Chris Cornell, Jesus Would Twitter

My god, Twitter. The can of beef you've opened up is kinda amazing. The ability to throw blows, txt by txt, within a 145 character capacity ...ah man, talk about putting down the blunt guidelines.
Perhaps the most recent twitter beef making headlines (and there are many of them) is that of NIN vs Chris Cornell, who just released his third solo album Scream this week. Upon hearing it NIN frontman Trent Reznor fired up his texting thumbs and blasted his fans with the short but sweet Cornell neg, "You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell's record? Jesus." Laugh. I did. So dig the blogs. And the fans...and the rest of the general public when this story took off. Yeah, there was no denying that Cornell probably got the message too.

Today news confirms that Cornell did get the memo... I mean, 21st century tweet. He must have been reading the Bible and drinking from the Holy Chalice of Valencia when he did cuz his rebuttal went something like this:
"What do you think Jesus would twitter? 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone' or 'Has anyone seen Judas? He was here a minute ago.' "

Yes, he decided to quote scripture. But according to Rolling Stone, Cornell is full of this kinda mumble jumble so maybe he really was just on a Dan Brown kick or dusting off his cassock for the upcoming tour in support of Scream. And for the record, fuck yeah! Jesus would twitter.
Here's a track from Scream. Agree with Reznor? This one definitely skews towards Heidi Klum's baby daddy Seal...
This one here, "Ground Zero," sounds like something Gnarls Barkely would put on an album...

Charley, do you find many people are "tweeting" your mog blogs? They are good, and the button is right there.

lol. i feel like there's some irony in doing that -- twittering about twitter beef, but i just did it for the first time anyways. ;) thanks for the reminder! i'm twitterable under charleyrogo
I've heard quite a few of the Cornell tracks. Despite being a huge Timbaland fan, none of them has made me want to listen a second time. Can't say it's an embarassment. Just not my cup o' tea, I guess.
does the image on the ground zero remind anyone else of uncle jesse
hahahah... its the hair!
Yes,i already "retweeted" a tweet tonight about "hipsters taking over twitter" ,and "ruining it"..to which i say does that include Hipster Dufus's (Seinfeld fan) ...and what's to ruin? I also tweeted your Phil Spector story picture.(guilty)
"See" (tweet) you there.@chrissikins
Twitter has all that "networking" "motivational",you can do it, pyramid selling ,look in the mirror and say "i'm a Tiger i'm a tiger" 350,000 followers and counting side to it.
Then there's the current explosion ,just over the last month amongst the Brits with high profile "Twitterers" like Stephen Fry and Jonathon Ross ("Wossy") that seems ideal for the those with a sense of humour, and an appetite for daftness. Along the way, they might follow a few links and stuff. You know what i mean. Twitter chat is getting included on BBC radio ,and most "media"/music/comedy is getting covered by the twittesphere. So,you can pick and choose what you want.
The BBC has a BIG charity fund-raising night "Red Nose day" ongoing ,that you must have seen referred to on "twitter" ..which seems to be making it at least "transatlantic" in scope this time.. i feel like i'm just telling you what you already know.
cheers Chris
Thanks for the post....I always find beefs hilarious. Great title too. :)
I'd have to say a no-char-limit verbal brawl is better than a twitter beef though, eg, the Flaming Lips vs. Arcade Fire beef. More to chew on, you could say...
q-tip had some beef too with a cop that he wanted to have a charity brawl with. that was awesome.
I'm digging these Cornell tracks. It reminds me of when Billy Corgan made a major stylistic change musically w/his debut solo album 'The Future Embrace'. Many hardcore Pumpkin fans despised it cause he had gone in an electronic direction. I was a hardcore Pumpkins fan & decided to forgo the album due to the bad press. Once I finally listened to it years later I fell in love with it. My bad for listening to general opinion!
I give Cornell kudos for trying a new direction. And really, most anything Timbaland graces w/his talent turns out well.
These is like an Eastcoast Westcoast rap feud.
Way to promote eachother, while trying to make your music and careers still continue to appear relevant
woah!
I typed "these is"
I really am pretty street
pick you side.
Cornell actually does have the right to make the record he wants to make...
i agree and am all for the artist exploring different genres, like what kanye recently did with 808s and heartbreak
That's not at all what your entire post just said. You can have your own opinion, you know. You don't have to agree with commenters if you don't really feel the way they do inside. I notice that with a lot of your posts. Just an observation.
I think her most was pretty middle of the road to begin with
i don't think mr cornell remembers who his fans are. and he still thinks he's jesus.
jagger - sorry 4 the miscommunication. my post was making fun of the twitter beef and then left it open to hear feedback. i'll take what you said into consideration tho.
brandarius - the guy from mstrkft, when he was in death from above 1979, once told me that cornell was the biggest douche. they'd be at a euro fest and cornell would be sunning himself behind the stage and security wouldnt let anyone near him. that's always the picture i have of chris cornell when i think of him.
