WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

New My Morning Jacket EP Brings The Louisville Lovin'

Posted 8 months ago

Next to the Kentucky Derby, the Brown Hotel, and the bourbon distilleries just outside of town another Louisville, KY staple is Ear-x-tasy - a smaller, more wholesome version of Cali's Amoeba's. Make it a sure stop on your next Lulville trip. MMJ did. Now the beloved band to many is releasing their in-store performance as a live EP. But in true MMJ form the band are leaving us guessing. In addition to the live cuts from the Ear-x-tasy in-store there are some tracks on the EP, titled Celebración De La Ciudad Natal, that are also taken from a show at the city's waterfront park and… they want you to guess which is from which.

But you ain't gonna find it on iTunes. The release is in commemoration of National Record Store Day, as in Ear-x-tasy is an independent record store you should buy music from, as in the title of the album basically says it all in espagnol. Both an EP and limited edition double 10" vinyl will be sold at an independent record store near you, me beginning on Record Store Day, April 18th.

Celebración De La Ciudad Natal tracklisting:
1.) Evil Urges
2.) Highly Suspicious
3.) Gideon
4.) Where To Begin
5.) Librarian
6.) Phone Went West
7.) Dondante

P.S. I guess another touristy thing to do on your next trip to Lousiville would be go to the Lousiville Slugger museum, but I've never done that.

AWESOME! Plenty of options in my area...  I leave for Hawaii that day but will make my best effort to get there and grab this (among other things; last year's version I spent about $150!)

I like these guys a lot. They've got a sound that's.......genuine? Yeah, genuine! Thanks for the head up, CR. And hey, the Kentucky Derby Museum is really incredible. Lots of old footage and a real cavalcade of sight, sound, and motion. Add it to the must see list!
