The Story Behind How Tinted Windows Got Together
-
Artist:

Um, wow. So this IS really happening. Last week we fell privvy to what we could call the weirdest supergroup to ever hit the stage - Tinted Windows. Forging together former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Hanson's keyboardist Taylor Hanson, Fountain of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger, and Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, Tinted Windows is indeed as real as the first promo shot above.
More news this week about how in the world this motley bunch got together. Schlesinger and Hanson met in the 90s and always wanted to collaborate on some project. Schlesinger and Iha had both toured together in their prior bands and since have become so tight they've produced records together, started the indie label Scratchie Records and co-own Stratosphere Sound recording studio in NYC. The three decided to jam. Needing a drummer the trio thought "Who do we know that can play drums like Bun E. Carlos?" Giving the longshot a shot the three invited Bun E. himself in to jam with them. He obliged and the rest is Tinted Windows history. To have a listen to their first track "Kind Of A Girl" head here. Gives the Jonas Brothers a run for the money.
As mentioned before the band will make its live debut with several performances at SXSW, followed by club show this spring and an appearance at New Jersey's Bamboozle festival.
An appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman on April 20th will hype the April 21st release of the band's debut self-titled album on S-Curve Records.

This is creepy on so many different levels I don't even know where to begin.
we'll just have to watch Letterman and see how this goes ...
they all are talented people. Why should this not go well
i have faith
had...had faith...and then i heard the first single. oh brother!
Not too familiar with Cheap Trick, but considering the song that Iha actually wrote, there's no surprises here. Not my favorite song though.
*ehem, I mean considering the songs Iha wrote while in the Pumpkins...
