Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has checked himself back into rehab after relapsing with heroin. Yesterday, the UK tabloid The Sun produced a video of the rocker shooting up, much to the shock of everyone, even his own bandmates."We heard they [The Sun] were going to run a picture the day before, but I assumed it was going to be dug up old footage," bassist Drew McConnell told NME.A statement from Doherty released via his band's record label EMI, said he "is filled with remorse for what he describes today as 'a stupid, stupid action for which I feel only shame'."The statement also explained that Doherty "would like to apologize to the medical staff, fans and well-wishers who have helped and encouraged his progress in fighting his addiction to heroin." "He's more than capable of eventually being 100 per cent clean", McConnell added. "The guy needs professional help - the fact that he is seeking that help is a giant step in the right direction."

Doherty's official statement to the public:
