WTF? Former Smashing Pumpkin & Hanson Member Form Band

If you told my junior-high-self that someday a headline like the one above would ever see the light of day, I would have said "you have to be shittin' me" through my braces. Perhaps the randomest mix of musicians ever, former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha has joined forces with Hanson's Taylor Hanson, Cheap Trick's drummer Bun E. Carlos and Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger to form a supergroup. Somebody please tell me that last night I went to sleep, woke up a month plus later and today is April 1st.

Spanning between the ages of 25 and 57, the supergroup is calling themselves Tinted Windows. According to Billboard.com, who broke the story, their first full-length album was recorded at New York's Stratosphere Sound Studios, where Schlesinger and Iha are co-owners. No title has been revealed but the debut is expected to emerge sometime this spring. Tinted Windows plan on giving their first major public performace at SXSW on March 20th. WTF? Can you think anything more random?

Sounds interesting! New spins are always fascinating! I love the work that James and Adam did with one of my all time favorite Socal musicians America on their last album!!
This is wild -- Mutual Admiration Society with members of Toad the Wet Sprocket, Nickel Creek, Led Zep, and the Attractions is close, but this is even weirder than that.
Cool. Those Hanson chicks were HOT! :D
Who put the SUPER in supergroup. Tinted Windows is an awesome name too because, well, it is just so meaningful. Excuse me, I have to go cry whilst curled up in a fetal position, and I don't really know why.
WHAT THE SHAT IS THIS FACK?!!
Taylor Hanson is kind of like Kurt Cobain minus the stomach problems, back problems, heroin problems, hatred for humanity issues, Courtney Love and absence of any pure raw talent.
Can't wait.
LOL at Troy :-D I'd be curious to hear this..there has to be a reason 3 true talents (yes, I'll count Bun E...he does what's necessary...just like Charlie Watts) joined with this kiddie-who's-not-a-kiddie-anymore. It might actually be good! I'll assume Iha sorta takes control and it'll sound pretty awesome.
I live an hour south of Austin in San Antonio and I am planing on going to this years SXSW. If I get to check them out, I will MOG about their show.
Dachmo, I think you meant to say the opposite about the Cobain/raw talent thing, unless you think Taylor Hanson has pure raw talent and cobain did not.
I for one think this could be a very interesting combination of talent....I will even go so far to say that we should not be so quick to harshly judge poor Taylor Hanson. I mean, he at least has SOME talent, I'm just not sure how much....he was only like 13 at the time that mmmmbop song exploded....younger than Hannah friggin Montana is now. Anyway, time will tell, I guess.
Jagger - I kind of questioned that when I wrote it too, let's see...
"Taylor Hanson is kind of like Kurt Cobain minus the...absence of any pure raw talent."
you are correct! I had to reread it a few more times. Too many words muddle the thought.
I always thought of Taylor as the talented Hanson, propping up his bros. I love FOW, I love Cheap Trick, I really don't give a shit about the Pumpkins but, hey, this sounds 75% great to me. I'm interested.
