Twice this past Sunday I heard 311's "Down" on the radio. Before this Sunday I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to 311. No reason for that in particular except things get lost in the massive ol' music library and that song is so 1995. (P.S. 1995 ruled!) Turns out it was an omen. Today news hits that 311 will release their new rock-centric album, Uplifter, the band's first in three years. Due late spring, 311, who believe it or not have been around since the late Eighties, are still putting finishing touches on the album at their North Hollywood recording studio The Hive with producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith), thus the rock-centric reference. A tour kicks off behind the new release April 15 with no announced location just yet.

Woot~
I'm super stoked about this!
This could be my favorite uplifter since Thomas Edison's invention of the Miracle Bra.
I only wish they'd make it their last album.
They should be tortured for that Cure cover they did.
^ I am going to have to agree with you contrabandwidth.
However, "down" was popular with me in the day...it's crazy they're making a new one. It's been quite a while indeed.
We are all entitled to like or dislike anything. But to suggest torture based on personal opinion and preffernece? I know, I know, it was not literally intended and is just another way to express personal opinion... I'm just sayin;)
Anyways, like you Charley, I was all about 311 back in the 90's and they have a sound that just does it for me.... but also like you, the past years have been all but 311 free when it comes to my ears and I have no idea why. Interesting phenomena.....
OK, now I am gonna hit the post button and go take a listen!
