The story goes that Peter Tosh knew that many wanted him dead. "I know I'm wanted because of the evil forces, but still I know there is another counter-force that counteract any evil force the forces of righteousness is a billion times more powerful." And then he took another hit from the peace pipe.
Tosh eventually met his doom when murdered in Jamaica in 1987 at the age of 44. Now 20+ years later the rastaman's vibratioin is coming back to haunt via The Ultimate Peter Tosh Experience. The box collection includes an audio CD and two DVDs, which is pretty unusual considering it's usually the other way around. But that one audio CD is packed with some crazy stuff. For one, an unreleased version of "Watch Gonna Do" featuring Slow Hands Eric Clapton recorded in the immediate wake of Clapton's success with "I Shot The Sheriff." Other unreleased goodies include a version of perhaps Tosh's most well known tune "Legalize It." A studio version of "Wanted Dread And Alive" is coupled with its Geoffy Chung remix
Then there are the DVDs. The first, Stepping Razor: Red X, is your usual documentary - interviews, performance footage and commentary - that tracks Tosh's life up to his murder. The second is vintage reggae concert footage. Among the stages graced with Tosh's presence: the One Love Peace Concert in 1979, the No Nukes concert (where Peter was the only reggae performer) in 1981, Reggae Sunsplash II from 1979 and Reggae Super Jam in 1982, LA's The Roxy in Los Angeles in 1983. They also fill it in with unreleased interview footage dating back between '79-81. A 30 page booklet of essays by friends and photos wraps the whole package.
Tosh starts haunting again February 24th.

Wow...20 years already! That second DVD sounds worth the price alone :-)
This set sure sounds interesting... seems like the kind of set that balances the 3-CD box Honorary Citizen rather than making it superfluous.
Definitely something to pick up. I've heard Peter live but I've never seen him in concert. That second disc will certainly slake my thirst for a visual document of Steppin' Razor live in concert.
I would definitely want to pick up a copy!
