New Foo Fighters Song About Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love?

Posted over 2 years ago
A song on the new Foo Fighters album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, out September 25th, might finally address frontman David Grohl's feelings on his former Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain and his wife Courtney Love. The track "Let It Die" describes the relationship between "a simple man and his blushing bride/intravenous, intertwined, hearts gone cold your hands were tied." When asked about the connection on the album's second track, Grohl told a UK newspaper, "I've seen people lose it all to drugs and heartbreak and death. It's happened more than once in my life, but the one that's most noted is Kurt. There are a lot of people that I've been angry with in my life, but the one that's most noted is Courtney. So it's pretty obvious to me that those correlations are gonna pop up every now and again." Foo Fighters, "Let It Die" off Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

  2. Charley Rogulewski says Lyric sites now!?! That's new to me...and really annoying. Now people are gonna go on singing: 'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy' instead of 'Scuse me, while I kiss the sky' or "Starship's We Built This City" as 'We built this city on the wrong damn road' instead of 'We built this city on rock and roll.'

  3. fistula spume says Too funny. Or "The girl with colitis goes by" instead of "The girl with kaleidoscope eyes". Yup. They want people to pay for lyrics through services like iTunes or other download sites. It would be an additional charge if you buy something online. Totally lame.

  4. Seizure Woman says hmmm... it was bound to happen ! I loved his little story he tells about when he first started with Nirvana on the "skin and bones" dvd. Awesome...

  5. ebuzzmiller says Let me get this straight - you went thru all this shit with Kurt Cobain, went from nothing to huge fame, saw the guy disintegrate in front of you, with his loser wife sucking him down, you're unable to do anything about it, and the guy ultimately blows his face off with a shotgun, committing the most notorious rock and roll suicide in history. And you write THESE lyrics about it? Shit, most 13 year old girls write poetry about Harry Potter that is deeper than this. I can't just point the finger at Dave Grohl on this account, but don't rock and roll lyrics just basically suck? This is just such shallow crap. Rock bands should stick to writing lyrics about the things they know best - beer and pussy. I can't believe that anyone with more than a 70 IQ would construe the words to this song as worth talking about. Suicide is a selfish, hateful act. If Kurt Cobain knew Grohl would write these pathetic, lame ass teenage lyrics about his death, he probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger.

  7. locke says Gee, Dave, Do you think maybe he should have been thinking about his daughter, his wife or maybe you could have said "the band"? "Did you ever think of me?" is just a bit egotistic don"t you think? Hey, you seem to be doing OK without Kurt. If he haddn't offed himself, you might still just be known as the drummer in Nirvana Why don't you try to write a song that starts out strong and ends in a ballad? Or maybe just all ballad? Or maybe just all rocker? I really do like your stuff, but the start slow and build thing is getting to be the"FOO CRUTCH"!

  8. breathmint says ummm, chill out people. this song is obviously about kathy (griffin).... not kurdt. ;) everyone knows the quintessential Foo Fighters track about kurdt is "How I Miss You."
