MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

With growing controversy and disucssion over Paul McCartney's NEW hit solo album (possibly his best ever), Memory Almost Full explores the world of McCartney's past, with an explosion of new rock style, mixed with the classic Beatles Delayed ending, and overall a mix of new and old.

The Album itself may just be the BEST solo album in McCartney's History! The album not only contains songs that move, but songs that embrace and return to McCartney's basic song style. Many of the songs share a common theme of the past. In each you can easily hear the connection McCartney intigrates that is visible to The Beatles' work. Almost every song somehow mentions the past, and leads to the contoversy of whether or not this is the final release of a solo album from Paul.

With each song, the clear recelaction of the past is present. And even though many of the songs could easily be miss-judged as modern versions of Beatles songs, there is visability between the two. For one thing, Memory Almost Full features almost no discussion of drug use. While, as we all know, almost every other Beatles piece somehow connects with drug use. Another visible difference would be the overall tone of the album. In many Beatles songs, you'd get faded out endings, or sudden drop offs, while in Memory Almost Full, these are really rare. Finally, the style is a complete change from The Beatles' harmonious tones of voices. In McCartney's album, most are controlled by the electric guitar playing in the background, unlike anything The Beatles ever did. In Memory Almost Full, there is always 1 instrument that leads the song, while in most Beatles songs, you have trade-offs between instruments and voices.

But again, throughout the album, the past is brought up so oftenly, and certain lyrics and words are repeated as if to reveal a certain hidden meaning. In the song, Vintage Clothes, McCartney is obviously refering to himself, and this is shown again throughout most of the cd, except for one song which reveals only one thing, "At The End of The End" as McCartney says, (and not to reveal too much, but as of a few months ago, I had the pleasure to interview McCartney himself over his opinion on the album, and he did happen to bring up how this will be his last, and how if you listen carefully enough, the message sticks out prominantly and vivadly).

So, in conclusion, McCartney's solo album, though at times may seem to be a Beatles duplicate, it is anything but. With moving lyrics and prominent guitar and drum lines, this cd offers a look into the true McCartney tht could never be shown in his Beatles life.

And lastly, on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = AWSOME, 10 = not so mcuh) I give Paul McCarntey's final solo album a 1 for its unbelievably lyrics and moving lyrics. A defenit. suggestion for everyones music library. So go out and get it before its too late!
