Took my guitar and a camera down to the Writers Strike Picket Line in Time square on a very cold day in December, and this is the result.

I wrestle with this time of year, but felt strangely compelled to write a song that is positive in tone. So here it is.

I think that this is a very important cause, and its outcome will set a precedent, that will effect us all in some way. So,I decided to write a wrote a song about it.

Very cool & great song Chris(even though I'm more than a little biased, heh). I really do like your rockier & rawer songs. This has a wicked edge to it that really shows your passion & a productive use of your anger. I also get the message your coming across w/the support of the Writer's Guild of America & protecting intellectual song rights. Good stuff, thanks for sharing it!
I'm conflicted and torn whenever I hear about a strike...I have managed a union shop, and it was really difficult. It was a bagel shop that NEVER should have been unionized (Bakers Local XXX), and I personally witnessed how the union took from the workers rather than assisting, and actually impeded them getting benefits that the other non-union shops had. I know the origins of unions were to protect workers, and were essential to the perks we all enjoy today...40 hour work weeks, meal & b-room breaks. If employers weren't taking advantage of workers, unions would never have come into being. See the conflict...
I do love the sentiment of your song though (not calling it sentimental by any means)...I was a theater major in college, and studied Waiting for Lefty (1935) by Clifford Odets. Lore has it that at the end of the 1st performance of the piece, the whole audience was moved to stand and chant "STRIKE". I love that a piece of art/song/theater could move a whole audience to move as one. I love that one feels so strongly about a movement/belief/ideology that they put themselves out artistically for their cause. And I plainly just like your song...how 'bout that?
As to the writers strike...I believe they should be compensated for their work. If the studios are profiting off of their writing with dvd or rerun sales, then the writer should as well.
Thanks for bring this up.
