Saying Farewell To A Special Friend
Written by Susan McCray |
Welcome To Orchestra Hall,
Sunday, Orchestra Hall pays tribute to a special friend, Richard Jessen. Though we never met, Richard was a devoted listener of "Orchestra Hall" When told of his passing, I was reminded of a note he sent me not long ago. He wrote about some of his favorite classical works including Rachmaninoff's Third Concerto performed by David Helfgott, Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, and Theme and Variations from Suite No. 3. He said he felt close to those works and knew them by heart.
On Sunday, October 17th at Noon pacific and eastern time, Orchestra Hall will feature those compositions as a tribute to Richard Jessen, a listener who became a very special friend.
I hope you will join me for this Farewell tribute concert on KSAV.org - your station for the classics.
Susan McCray

I will miss Musikfriend very much. He had a deep knowledge of music not often listened to by other MOGgers. He was way too young. Condolences to his family and friends. He was a real contributer to our community.
Very sorry to hear this, Vito. He brought a real diversity to MOG in its heyday.
I only heard the news today. I'm really sad because I lost my reference point in the Mog. I learned a lot from Richard's comments on each song he posted. My condolences to the family and all who liked the Richard...
Though it's only been a year that Richard has passed, I think of musikfriend (online alias) often. It's been hard to blog knowing that I won't see his words comforting me. I tried to do the same for him because he taught me sooooooo much. We HEART you Musikfriend. I hope our love can be felt in your infinite universe!! xo
