Yom Hulin

Posted almost 4 years ago
Here's an old video of an old song by Israeli singer Ilanit. A new cover of this is playing on the Israeli popular radio stations, and I decided to look up the original. If I have strings they play tremblingIf I have worries, they are almost exposedIf there is love in me, it will be said quietlyIf I have roots, they lengthen slowlyYou see how I shiver suddenlyThe wind often changes its directionWe've tried to leave but I knowWe stay for year after yearIn your rooms the sun drawsLines and stripes of light on the wallsEvery morning, for you I gleanLittle details, little joys of the weekdayDo you respond, are you answering meMaybe my clocks tick in your earPerhaps you listen, perhaps you are like meMy face is suddenly reflected in yoursIf I have strings they play tremblingIf I have worries, they are almost exposedIf there is love in me, it will be said quietlyIf I have roots, they lengthen slowlyThis weekday is a day of graceAnd by its grace lines are written to youTake my hand now, make peace with meOn this weekday our paths crossNote: "yom hulin" literally means "ordinary/unholy day", and it's used synonymously with weekday - usually in its alternative, more modern form, "yom hol".

  2. Carnadine says Hi again! Glad you like it. I'll have to see if I can pull up the new cover for comparison. (I think I like it a little better than this version - I'm not that big a fan of the singing style they used back 30 years ago or so.)
